Australia's tourism agency recently launched its "Best Jobs in the World" campaign, a global online competition that offers dream jobs as the prizes. Six positions are available, including Outback Adventurer, Wildlife Caretaker and Lifestyle Photographer. Each winner will receive a six-month contract and a salary package of $100,000.

Applicants must submit a 30-second video, along with their application, to the competition website. The agency, Tourism Australia, already received 75,000 applications only a day after the competition’s launch.

The campaign aims to generate interest among young tourists and encourage them to work in Australia. The agency specifically targets people aged 18 to 30 who come from countries that are eligible for Australian working holiday visas. Among these countries are Canada, the U.S., France, South Korea and Japan.

According to Andrew McEvoy, managing director of Tourism Australia, youth travelers are integral in Australia's tourism industry because they make up more than a quarter of the country's total visitors.

Young tourists with working holiday visas benefit Australia's economy since tourists help alleviate the nation's labor shortage, stay longer and spend more than other visitors. At the same time, working provides these young visitors a way to save up for their future travels. According to McEvoy, young tourists constitute more than 25% of Australia’s total tourists.

Trent Zimmerman, CEO of Tourism and Transport Forum, said that his group is pushing for reforms on the working holiday policies to provide more benefits to the workers. His group also hopes to open the program to older travelers.
