A recent survey has revealed that children throughout the world are now aware of the violence happening in their respective countries.

The survey, entitled “Small Voices, Big Dreams,” was conducted by ChildFund Alliance.  The study involved around 6,500 children from 47 different countries. They are between 10 to 12 years old.

The survey focused on how children see violence, how they deal with bad people and what makes them feel vulnerable. It also asked children what makes them feel happy and safe.

Results revealed that children see their childhood as a period of fear and the world as a violent place. This result applies to both developed and developing countries, with some slight differences.

According to children in developing countries, poverty, social conflicts, and domestic abuse cause violence. On the other hand, children in developed countries said alcohol, drugs, and bad behavior are the roots of violence.

On another note, children in developing countries have high regard to education, as they have little to no access to it. They even consider teachers as their heroes. In developed countries, however, children surprisingly see their parents as heroes because they find safety and happiness when they are with their families.

All these results prove one thing—children are now well-aware that the world has become violent. Nonetheless, the survey showed that children still have a sense of hope. But, whether this hope will strengthen or weaken depends on adults, who children see as role models.
