Arizona State University (ASU) will soon offer full scholarships for those who are interested in getting an MBA.

The university’s W.P. Carey School of Business will offer this to students who will be enrolling in its two-year full-time MBA program at the beginning of fall 2016. While other business schools are becoming more expensive and shortening their programs to one year, ASU hopes that their initiative will result in a more diverse student population in their business school.

While the recent trend for graduates is to go into technology or manufacturing, ASU is hoping to encourage more students to pursue entrepreneurship or to set up nonprofit organizations. Amy Hillman, the dean of W.P. Carey says that the university wants to save entrepreneurs from the dilemma of whether they should spend their money on business school or invest on a startup.

A well-known real estate entrepreneur named William Carey donated $50 million to ASU in 2003. The money was supposed to be used for faculty recruitment, but the school administration decided to use it for scholarships.

While ASU hopes to diversify its business school student population, a similar scholarship opportunity provided by another university hopes to boost gender diversity in their business school by providing scholarships specifically for women. Last March, University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business announced that they aim to increase enrollment of women in their college from 32% to 50% by 2020.
